We are Seed. We started 20 years ago as Shegeek Design, a branding agency with corporate and lifestyle clients. Seed was created to align our work more closely with our personal beliefs and to work with clients who create honest, artisanal or pure food and honor the burgeoning social and environmental shifts taking place.

Mary Kate Meyerhoffer / Strategy, Creative Director & Founder
Beginning her career in 1990, Mary Kate specialized in design for new technologies at a time when there were few women in the industry. She was quickly given the nickname Shegeek and, in the 20 years since, has designed and art-directed for clients such as Time Warner, Ericsson and Sun MicroSystems. Mary Kate has had the opportunity to work on many projects at the forefront of innovation, including one of the first photosharing communities and one of the first worldwide corporate social-intranet portals. She can be found most weekends of the season bouldering in Yosemite with almost-teenage son, Dylan Thomas.

Brett Walkley / Art Director & Senior Designer
The daughter of a US Diplomat, Brett was raised in Africa and Asia. As a result, she often found herself unable to verbally communicate with others which embedded within her a deep interest in the art of visual communication, which she further explored as she obtained her BFA in Graphic Design at The Rhode Island School of Design. Having been raised in this manner, and by a family with generations of landscape architects, artisans, passionate gardeners, fishermen and foragers, cooks and English countryside meat and pie sellers, Brett also has a love of the international cultures that surround food and, like many others nowadays, has developed a passion to know everything there is to know about where her food actually comes from.

Sabine Hildebrand / Strategic Manager
Sabine is a native of Germany and started her career as a Consultant with two of the world’s leading management consulting firms, providing expertise to international Fortune 500 companies such as Steinway, Pfizer, Michelin and Coca Cola as well as a wide range of startups. She moved to California almost a decade ago and has worked as a freelance consultant for a broad variety of companies here in the United States. Ten years of coastal living have shifted her focus from the big dollars of Fortune 500 companies to embracing the opportunity to ‘really’ make a difference with companies that dedicate themselves to ‘things that matter in life’.¬†She has assisted many clients in defining the individual needs of their business and shaping those into successful and market relevant solutions. Sabine holds an M.A. in communications sciences and literature.

Gretchen McDougall / Art Director & Senior Designer
After 15 years of marketing national brands for the likes of Young & Rubicam, Gretchen turned her attention from the big players to non-profits and grass-roots start-ups when she moved to the coast in 1997. Because of its character, characters, and commitment, Seed is the perfect fit.

Technology and User Experience Team
After 20 years working with emerging technologies we have a pool of developers, programmers, user experience and user interface experts that gives us the ability to curate a team of individuals for each clients specific needs.
